Description

This engaging and effective qualification introduces students to the fundamentals of psychology, developing critical analysis, independent thinking and research skills.

Assessment

Teacher assessments are continuous during LIVE TAUGHT lessons, marking of coursework and assignments and summative tests. This qualification is linear, which means students will sit all their exams at the end of the course.

 

Homework

Homework will be given at the end of each week, usually in the form of problems to solve, researching key concepts.

 

Reporting

24 /7 access to all teacher feedback, progress and grades. Teacher consultations available on request.

 

The Teacher

Hi my name is Alisdair Taylor (Ph.D) and I am head of psychology at CHS. I have extensive experience in teaching and researching psychology. My teaching style relies on honesty, patience and transparency. My students tend to do very well indeed in their examinations when they study and work hard. I play tennis regularly and am a sports enthusiast in general.

 

 

COURSE OUTLINE

The course will follow the current AQA GCSE specifications.

The course will be based on the textbooks recommended for AQA GCSE psychology.

 

This specification enables learners to develop their understanding of all aspects of psychology providing a firm basis from which to springboard into A-level and beyond.

Examination Centres

It is the student's responsibility to arrange their examinations - our teachers will provide all the support required. Most students will sit their examination papers at a local school or college. Some students sit their examinations at private examination centres (Google these or ask and we can provide a list) or the British Council for international students.

General points

Assessment will be carried out continuously throughout lessons, via homework or short tests. Final examination includes multiple choice, short answer and extended written questions.
